An edible fluffy cloud with an ice cream center? I’m in!
LET’s experience this, together! A fluffy cloud of pink and blue cotton candy surrounds your favorite choice of fro yo or soft serve ice cream, sprinkled with seasonal or themed toppings. Dunbri’s Dessert Cafe is a family-owned business based out of Haymarket, VA. Husband and wife duo, Graham and Karen Maclean, moved to the U.S. 22 years ago! They opened Dunbri’s in June of 2018 and their teenage daughters also work there, making it a full family affair. They call this sugary masterpiece a Pure Barry, which is Scottish slang for, “awesome” or “really great!” For other fun Scottish slang words, check out Culture Trip’s 30 Scottish Phrases and Sayings You’ll Hear in Edinburgh.
This dessert hits me BIG TIME for three reasons:
- I LOVE beautiful things…especially if you can eat them.
- Cotton candy and froyo are my kryptonite.
- I am slightly obsessed with the United Kingdom and would love to live there for at least two years of my life.
NBC Washington featured Dunbri’s on air back in February 2019 for a Valentine’s Day segment! Graham and Karen reveal how they started making these fanciful treats and also take us through the experience of creating one. Another treat to share?…They only cost $6.50-$8.50!
Below is niece, and recent birthday girl, Adora Kate, pictured right before she devoured her first Pure Barry experience.
While there, grab lunch and french pressed coffee too!
The Menu also has cronuts…
I know this post is about the Pure Barry Cotton Candy Cloud, but I could not leave out the fact that this uniquely crafted menu sports a true UK vibe, including french pressed coffee, hand-spun milkshakes, a variety of cafe sandwiches, and CRONUTS! Yes, cronuts! Thank goodness this place is over 45-minutes away from me or I would not be able to resist the temptation to go every day.
