Mama, what magical being left pink strawberries on our porch?~ Coco
In the Phillips Household, it’s an experience in itself when someone nears our front door. Our pups, Pike (German Shepherd) and Nala (small Lab/Terrier mix) sound the alarm with their multi-pitched barking. The duo charges the door, taking the path of least resistance and sparing no mercy on any innocent bystanders that stand in the way. If the kids survive this stage, they cheerfully run to the front door as well and peep out the window to see who it is….always secretly hoping it might be Santa Claus dropping by for a visit.
Yesterday, the doorbell rang, our pups sounded the alarm and the kids partook in their usual ritual of giggling excitedly while trailing not too far behind. I waited until the chaos died down to When the kids opened the door and discovered the cutest white box with a pink bow on it. Eybi, the talented owner of Berry Dulce, and I had previously coordinated a drop off time for this sweet treat to arrive so I knew it was coming. Inside? Giant, fresh strawberries covered in a blanket of pink and milk chocolate, sprinkled with just enough small candies to style them perfectly. Coco asked me, “Mama, what magical being left pink strawberries on the porch for us?” She makes me laugh every day.
We are a strawberry family. We have them EVERY DAY and my 3-year-old son could even tell you if they were in or out of season. These strawberries blew me away, truly, and I almost want to ask Eybi to share her secrets with me as to where she buys them from. The pink and milk chocolate was the right thickness ratio for me (not too thick) and it complemented the strawberries so very well. In every bite, you taste juicy strawberry first which is followed up with a light, chocolatey aftertaste. SO-YUM!
